Quickstart: your first answer in 5 minutes
From nothing to a chat on your site that answers from your own content, with sources.
1. Create an agent and give it knowledge (2 minutes)
- Sign up. Your workspace is created for you.
- Click New agent, then Knowledge › Add source and enter your website URL. Check the pages we found, untick what you don't want, and confirm. You can also upload files (PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, CSV), paste text, or add Q&A pairs.
- Answers start working as soon as the first pages are read. You don't have to wait for the whole site.
Try it before you embed: the preview next to the agent's settings is the real chat. Ask it something your site answers, and you'll see the reply with its sources. Preview answers are free.
2. Allow your domain and go live (1 minute)
In the agent's Settings, under Allowed domains, add the domains the chat may appear on, such as example.com. Use *.example.com for subdomains. The browser refuses to show the chat anywhere else.
Then turn on the Live switch at the top right of the agent.
3. Paste one line (1 minute)
The agent's Add to your website tab walks you through five steps (template, look, where, code, check). The code step gives you one line. Add it before </body> on every page that should show the chat:
<script src="https://widget.onetype.ai/v1/embed.js" data-agent="YOUR_AGENT_ID" defer></script>Reload your page. The launcher appears in the corner. Click it and ask your first question. The answer streams in with its sources.
The loader is under 3 KB, and loads the chat only when a visitor hovers over, focuses or opens it.
4. Make it yours
- Look: pick a template (bubble, inline, help page, ⌘K palette, docs sidebar) and add your logo, name and greeting.
- Behavior: under General, set the agent's instructions, whether it answers only from your knowledge (on by default), and what happens when it doesn't know: offer a person, collect contact details, or apologize.
5. Go further

Using a framework
The one-line script works in any site: static HTML, WordPress, Webflow, Shopify themes, React, Vue, Next.js. For single-page apps, load it once in your root layout. The loader follows client-side navigation by itself, so you don't need to re-initialize it on route changes.
// Next.js (app/layout.tsx)
import Script from "next/script";
export default function RootLayout({ children }: { children: React.ReactNode })
{
return (
<html lang="en">
<body>
{children}
<Script src="https://widget.onetype.ai/v1/embed.js" data-agent="YOUR_AGENT_ID" strategy="afterInteractive" />
</body>
</html>
);
}The one-line script works in React and Vue apps today.
