In short

  • Your provider, your bill.Model usage is billed by your provider straight to your account.
  • Counted in answers.Every answer counts as one against your plan, whatever the model. No AI credits are included.
  • Every model of that provider. With your key, you can pick any of that provider's models.
  • Stored encrypted.Keys are checked, encrypted, and shown only as their last four characters.

Some teams already have an account with an AI provider, with their own terms, limits and billing. With your own AI key, your agent uses that account for its answers. You keep control of model spend, and OneType counts each answer as one answer on your plan.

How to connect a key

  • Go to Settings, then AI models.
  • Paste your API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, OpenRouter or Moonshot and click Check and save.
  • OneType checks the key with the provider before storing it.
  • Your agents now use it for that provider's models.

Each saved key shows its last four characters, when it was added, when it was last used, and its status. You can replace or remove a key at any time. Only owners and admins can manage keys.

What changes for your agents

When own-key plans open, that provider's models will be marked With your own key in each agent's Model tab. Auto will use your key too whenever it picks a model from that provider. Every answer will count as one answer on your plan, whatever the model. Your provider will bill you directly for the use.

Built to be safe

Keys are stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM), and each one is tied to your workspace and provider, so it cannot be opened anywhere else. After saving, the full key is never shown again, not even to the person who added it. Adding, removing and using a key is written to your workspace's audit log.

If your provider later refuses the key, for example because it was revoked, the key is marked Refused by the provider and you are alerted. OneType never quietly switches to its own key in its place. Replace the key and answers continue.

Coming soon: Premium with your own AI key

Bring your own key is coming soon as its own plan: Premium with your own AI key, counted in answers with no AI credits included. Free and the credit-based Premium plan do not include it.

Why teams use their own key

  • Model spend shows up in your own provider account, next to your other AI use.
  • Every answer counts as one, whatever the model.

You can connect one key per provider for each workspace. Saving a new key for the same provider replaces the old one.

What each plan includes, and how AI credits work, is on the pricing page.
