In short
- Handoffs reach your team.Everyone who can answer visitors hears when one asks for a person.
- Email when nobody is around.Handoff emails go out only when nobody on the team is online.
- Your choice, per type.Turn each kind of notification on or off, in the app and by email separately.
- No pile of repeats. The same alert within ten minutes adds to a count instead of stacking up.
Too few alerts and a visitor waits. Too many and your team stops reading them. OneType sends each notification only to the people it is for, and lets every teammate decide how they want to hear about it.
The bell in your dashboard
A bell in the top bar shows how many unread notifications you have and updates live. Open it to see the latest ones, unread first. Clicking one takes you to the conversation or page it is about, and Mark all as read clears the count. If the same thing happens several times within ten minutes, for example several handoffs, you get one notification with a count instead of a long list.
What you hear about
- Handoffs: a visitor asked for a person.
- New leads: a visitor left their details, with which fields they filled in.
- Usage: at 80% and 100% of your plan's monthly AI credits.
- Billing: an upcoming deletion of paused agents.
- Problems to fix: a knowledge sync that failed or needs review, an integration that needs reconnecting, a webhook that was turned off or an own AI key that stopped working.
- Getting live: in your first days, a reminder if your agent is not on your site yet, and a note when questions went unanswered.
The right people, not everyone
Each kind of notification goes to the people whose role it concerns. Handoffs go to everyone who can reply to visitors. Billing notices go to owners. Problems to fix go to owners and admins. New leads can reach every role, and are on by default for owners and admins, while members turn them on if they want them.
Private by design
Notifications never quote what your visitors typed. A handoff alert says a visitor asked for a person and links to the conversation. A lead alert says which details were left, such as email and phone, without the values. The message itself is always one click away in the dashboard, where only your team can see it.
Invitations work the same way: when someone invites you to a workspace, it shows in your bell, and the notice disappears if the invitation is revoked.
In the app, by email, or both
In Settings, then Notifications, every type has two switches: in the app and by email. Changes save the moment you make them. Handoff emails are special: they are sent only when nobody on your team is online, because otherwise someone already sees the handoff in the dashboard. A notice that an inactive workspace is about to be deleted is always sent, since it is a legal notice.
