In short

  • Four tools, ready to switch on.Open pages, point at things, read the page and fill forms, each switched on separately.
  • You set the fences.Choose which pages the agent may open and which form fields it may fill.
  • Visitors approve changes.Opening a page and filling a form always show a confirmation card first.
  • Sensitive fields are off limits.Password, card, CVC, IBAN and social security fields are refused, whatever you allow.

A good answer often ends with where to find it. Page tools let the agent take that last step for the visitor: open the pricing page, scroll to the plan table and highlight it, or fill in your contact form with what the visitor just said.

The four tools

  • Open pages: the agent opens a page of your site, or an https site you listed.
  • Point at things: it scrolls to an element and highlights it.
  • Read the page: it reads the title, address, the visitor's selected text and the visible content.
  • Fill forms: it fills the fields you allow with what the visitor told it.

How to turn them on

Setting up page tools is coming soon. You will list the paths the agent may open and the form fields it may fill as CSS selectors, up to 20 each, and whether it may submit, then turn on pageTools in your install snippet.

Safe by design

Opening a page and filling a form always ask the visitor first, with a card in the chat that only their click can approve. Pointing at things and reading the page do not change anything, so they do not ask.

Fields for passwords, card numbers, CVC, IBAN or social security numbers are refused when you save, so the agent never types into them. Submitting a form is off until you allow it. Text the agent reads on a page is treated as content, never as instructions, so a page cannot order the agent around.

When you need more

Page tools will cover common moves. For anything specific to your site, like adding to cart or applying filters, site actions are coming soon too, and API actions for data that lives on your server, such as order status.

Examples visitors will notice

  • Where do I change my plan? The agent opens the billing page after the visitor approves.
  • Which one is the annual option? It scrolls to the pricing table and highlights it.
  • What does this paragraph mean? It reads the text the visitor selected and explains it.
  • I want a callback. It fills your contact form with the name and number the visitor gave.

Each of these works only on the paths and form fields you listed, so you decide exactly where the agent may help.
