In short

  • Five real layouts.A corner bubble, an inline answer box, a full help page, a search palette and a docs sidebar.
  • Switch without starting over.Your agent's name, greeting and starter questions carry over.
  • Each layout fits its place. Each template comes with its own corner, width and spacing.
  • Phone friendly by default. On phones the chat opens full screen, except the inline box, which stays in your page.

People look for answers in different ways. A shopper on a product page wants a quick chat in the corner. A reader on a pricing page wants to ask right where they are. A developer in your docs wants a search box they can open in a click. With OneType you choose the layout that matches the page, not the other way round.

The five layouts

Each layout is a different way of showing the same agent, with the same knowledge and the same answers. You do not train anything twice: only the way the chat sits on the page changes.

  • Chat bubble: a launcher in the corner that opens a chat panel.
  • Inline answer box: a question box inside your page that grows into a short conversation.
  • Help page: a full page chat, made for help and support sections.
  • Search palette: a centered dialog your visitors open from a button.
  • Docs sidebar: a drawer on the side of the page that opens next to your content.

Switch layouts, keep your work

You pick the layout when you choose one of the 134 chat templates. Your agent's name, greeting and starter questions stay the same when you switch.

Settings that belong to each layout

Each template sets these for you. Changing them is coming soon.

  • Chat bubble: bottom left or bottom right, a launcher label or icon only, and side and bottom offsets up to 96 px.
  • Docs sidebar: left or right, push the page aside or open over it, and a width from 360 to 520 px.
  • Inline answer box: how tall it may grow, from 240 to 1200 px.
  • Help page: column width from 640 to 800 px.
  • Search palette: width from 560 to 760 px.

Built for phones too

On a phone, the bubble, help page, palette and sidebar open full screen, so answers are easy to read with one thumb. The inline answer box stays inside your page, where you placed it.

Start simple, change any time

New agents start with the chat bubble, because it works on almost any site. When you are ready to try another layout, pick another template, preview it and publish. Your visitors see the new layout within about a minute.

Layouts set how the chat opens on your page. The templates gallery shows complete designs to start from.

Questions, answered.

Each agent publishes one layout at a time. If you need two layouts live at once, you can set up a second agent for the other pages.
